Hey guys, I have this “opportunity” to spend a few days on Fripp. I have fished a lot around Hunting, but was wondering if anybody knows of decent put ins/fishable water without leaving the island. I usually target redfish/trout/flounder. Thanks for any info.
There are a couple of places to put in while there. Although it will require you to leave Fripp and head over to hunting for a couple of them. The Fripp island marina is available and its a short paddle to hit a couple of the creeks close buy. Just watch out for the tides, its easy to get stranded back in some of the creeks. I have never put in on the beach but have heard the fishing is pretty good around the rock wall on the north side of Fripp. Also head to hunting and put in a Russ Point and head up to the Johnson Creek Flats and there are some pig reds and trout. Its a long paddle and make sure you use the tide for your benefit. I believe its the second creek to the right that will take you back in there and there is a deep hole at the intersection.
Heading down to Pcola to fish the Gulf Coast Tournament, but will be back the first of the week. If still in down PM me and will try to do some fishing with you.
Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet air intakes
Catch the fish then shoot to over populated deer on Fripp. Just playing. Hope yall wear them out.
Keep casting.
Thanks Pilot, I have been up Johnson Creek. Some nice flats. Have you done any good in the creeks near the marina? I hope they don’t charge for throwing a yak in. We are doing a house trade and haven’t decided when we’re coming down yet. I’ll give you a holler when we set plans. In the mean time I’ll settle for some Smallmouth action on the French Broad and New. Fishing should be spectacular on those rivers this summer. Good luck in the tourney!
