From canvas to fiberglass...

Might be looking to replace the canvas on the t-top with a fiberglass hard t-top.

Anyone know where to start looking for a supplier of just the fiberglass top to attach to the existing t-top frame…? Thanks…

I’m not sure if they are doing retail work, but you might try Engineered Composites in Columbia. Their number is 803-765-9464. They are located off of Shop Rd. at the old Sunbird Boats facility.
Cost for a custom fiberglass top(since all t-tops are different sizes) will probably run $800.00-$1000.00 and add about 100-125 lbs. of weight to your top.

Before you go to fiberglass, think it through and check it out carefully. I had a 24 ft. CC with a T-top with a fiberglass roof and I have mixed feelings about it. The pros: it is very durable, you can stand on it,it makes mounting stuff to it easier, it looks good. The cons: it is expensive (compared to fabric), it is heavy (40-50 lbs.), it will cause your T-top frame to crack (from the weight & vibration). Talk to a T-top fabricator or a good marine welder before you go to fiberglass. My frame wouild crack in the same spots repeatedly. At least once or twice a year I had to have it welded up. Finally we reinforced the areas that kept cracking with gussets. That helped tremendously, but did not end the problem. The T-top & fiberglass roof came from the boat manufacturer as part of the tournament package. Repairs made during the first year were covered by the manufacturer, subsequent repairs came out of my pocket.

The 5’ X 10’ t-top I made for my boat I used the 3’X5’ white fiberglass panels that Lowe’s/Home Depot sells for shower stalls. There about .060" thick, you can’t stand on it but things small like GPS antennas etc can be mount to it with out backing plates. Total cost was under $100.00 and total weight maybe 20 lbs. Had it for 5 years ,still good shape you can also paint it if you like.
