Fuel Bulb

Had a certified Yamaha service place tell me that my fuel line bulb was on the wrong side of the F/W separator! They are telling me that it is supposed to be inline before the separator! Right now it is on the motor side! Does it matter which side it’s on:question:

mine is pre separator. dont know if that is mandatory or not

should be between the separator and the engine, although I don’t think it matters much unless the filter is far from the engine

Only about 3 feet!

Mine is between the separator and motor.

I’ve looked all over the interweb and I can’t find any thing definitive on it! I really think they are just padding the bill a little!

Found this. It shows the bulb between the motor and the separator.

I’d say leave it where it is. Mine is on the motor side of the separator and I have never had a problem nor have I ever had any mechanic tell me it’s wrong.

Wouldn’t think it makes much difference either way. The bulb will still prime the line as long as it is between the tank and the motor…

I always put mine between the filter and motor. Don’t see where it matters much either way. It would generally be inconvenient and hard to reach if it was in front of the filter instead of close to the motor.

I told them to leave it as it is! I just got back from picking it up! While at the dealership I was looking at the new boats they had on display! They all had Yamaha outboards on them! Every one of them had the primer bulb over the splash well! I said to the guy, your not going to sell them like that are you! :imp::wink::smiley: Trying to run the bill up a little and got caught!:face_with_head_bandage:[:0]

good work. you gonna name names?

Yeah, probably! But you let them get away with it:smiley: Told my sister once as a teen when I wanted to use her car, that she needed a new muffler bearing and I would take care of it for her! She bought it! Same as she bought the new mud valve, she needed! Don’t know if it was my Mom or Dad, that squealed on me.

Blinker fluid doesn’t corrode, they put corrosion inhibitors in it so this doesn’t happen!!
