Anyone have any experience/recommendations on a in-line fuel flow meter?
I have a Lowrance EP-60R probe networked to my HDS. Probably one of the best gadgets I’ve bought. Install and setup was painless, all kinds of info (GPH, MPG, fuel remaining, range, fuel burned for trip/season/total, etc) available. Really helps dial in the right trim to save some gas - I can change +/- almost 0.5 mpg at cruise just by how I use the trim tabs & motor trim. Also gives some peace of mind since my gas gauge is an estimate at best, downright useless occasionally. Don’t have a way to really check the accuracy, but based on how much it say’s I’ve burned and how much I put back in to fill up it’s spot on.
~$100 vs $300-400 for a stand-alone unit like Floscan. Of course, this is kind of dependent on having a compatible fishfinder/plotter unit already. I think there are similar things for other brands, might be something to check out.

Great, thanks for the info, I am looking for a stand alone unit, I don’t think Humminbird makes one, but I’ll look more.
Wolfie, do you know if that meter works with the lowrance elite 5 gold dsi unit?

I had a fuel flow, think that’s the name. It was good but you had to input the amount of gas in the tank after each fill up. So it was only as good as you were. But it did keep up with fuel burn.
Since you have to say it has 90 gallon. And it says you burned 10 gallons. You might be able to put 15 gallons in it. Because your starting point was off.
BTW that was a 2stroke engine. The’re are differences because of carburetor vs fuel injection.

No, I don’t think so. Pretty sure only the HDS series has the networking capabilities. Lowrance does make a standalone multifunction gauge that can interface with their probes, but once you got that route you’re back in the same price range as a dedicated fuel meter. Probably a good unit though.

Try this one. Follow installation closely, mine is good to .5 gal in 50 and has been for about 8 years …
