Installed a new fuel sender and works as it should until I throttle down. Needle then drops to zero and doesn’t move back until I’m back up on plane. If I really ease off the throttle when throttling down, it stays where it should. Only thing I can think is maybe its getting hung on a baffle due to the fuel shifting in the tank. But I would expect it to read full, not empty if it hung up high on a baffle. Anyone have any thoughts/solutions to this?
Thanks
What sender did you install?

I put in a Moeller electric sender. Goes to an analog gauge. I’ve checked the resistance range for both and they seem to be in line.

What sender did ja install dare eh?
I recently had an issue with my fuel guage reading all over the place. The first time was offshore and it jumped from 3/4 to 1/4, not pleasant. We checked the bilge, motor, and track behind the boat, no sign of a leak. On the way back in, it bounced back up. A few days later, after checking the terminal brass connections and hardware on back of the guage, they were all oxidized black. Took everything off, polished the brass nuts, washers, terminal posts and lugs to remove the oxidation, then coated lightly with dielectric grease. It has worked fine since.
