fuel line problem solved

Here’s a new one (just when you think you’ve seen it all). Was having trouble getting fuel from my tanks (I have 2 six gal portable tanks) to the 60horse. Was having to pump the bulb and couldn’t run it wide open or it would bog. Checked the fuel pump diaphragm and such. Didn’t think it was an e10 prob as I turn over the tanks pretty regularly but I thought I might as well replace the lines and the bulb. Well here’s what the cross section of the line showed. The inner lining of the line had caved in on itself (and it was even worse in other areas) over probably 5ft of the line. Imagine the flow restriction. Amazing…

Good find and just imagine they powers that be want to implement E15. We’ll have run stainless fuel lines…

I replace all my fuel lines with what they say was the new " E10 " resistant stuff. At about $4 per ft. it should be resistant…

This happens on all grey fuel hose, If it’s not falling apart now it will soon.

we see it all the time
shain, just a heads up, “Shields” is making a new grey hose that is rated for ethanol, but you are right, all the old grey stuff will come apart on the inside.

I’d rather be a conservative nut-job than a liberal with no nuts and no job!!

I try to do that in all our service pictures, not only for advertising, but also to claim ownership, and scale, because some pics dont have hands in them

So, what is the best hose to buy for replacement? I have some gray hose that I put on a year or so back, but I’m seeing little black stuff in my water separator filter when I change it. Don’t know about the hose from the tank to the filter; it came with the 2002 KW.

Blackwaterkatz

change the hose from the tank to the filter, and from the filter to the motor.
anything that is specifically listed for ethanol use

Thanks, Chris.
