fuel mileage

I shrimped with a buddy yesterday in St Helena pulling a 25’ net with his new 115 4 stroke Yammy. WE Pulled at 2000 rpms for 5 hours on 11.4 gal. I have almost the same boat with a 2 stroke 115 yammy an I would have burned over 30 gal! How can I justyify to my wife I could save a lot of money if I were to buy a new 4 stroke! Lets see, about $11,000.00 is about 3300 gal of fuel, at 300 hrs a year the 4 stroke would be worn out by the time I payed the differance!!!

How long has it been since you went through the carbs, settings and sync? That can make a big difference in the low end response and fuel burn.

You are comparing fuel injection to carbs though. Carbs can be somewhat comparable when set spot on but that is rare.

I cannot complain at all with the burn in my direct injected 2 stroke. I am partial to 2s though.

direct injected 2 strokes get just as good if not better economy than a 4 stroke
they just don’t have the reliability long term

Thats like buying a econo car as your second vehicle because the truck only get 15mpg. You will never come out on top of that deal either.

Run that thing until she dies then replace it with what you want.
