Fuel Stabilizer

I have a 25 hp four stroke Yahama motor and wonder if its recommended to use fuel stabilizer if I am using Ethanol free gasoline.

I always use Sta-Bil, ethanol or not.

I’m using Startron stabilizer with ethanol treatment in what is supposed to be non-ethanol gas. I figure you can’t be too careful when it comes to ethanol. So far so good. Ethanol is nasty stuff for boat motors, etc.

I use Yamalube treatment in ethanol gas in my Yamaha 70 HP 4 stroke (recommended by dealer). It’s really new. Probably less than 20~25 hours. It’s been running great.

i like the marine sta-bil and i run non ethonal fuel if its a 2 stroke for 4. just piece of mind. i also dump a bottle of seafoam in every other tank of fuel.

it may smoke a little more but my 2 stroke was very clean internally when we pulled the carb for a reuild.
in the 4 stroke i havn’t noticed a diffrence in smoke or not.

now i have used evenrude engine tuner and that stuff smokes like no other but it works.

I have a Suzkui 175 4-stroke. I recently had a phone conversation with a Suzuki mechanic and he told me that he did not recommend Sta-bil. I was pre-occupied asking him about another issue, so I didn’t follow up. I just saw this thread and wondered if anyone else has heard this. Ethanol-free gass of course is the main thing. Anyone recommend an alternative to Sta-bil?

In was told by a boat motor mechanic that Startron claims to turn old fuel new again, dont know if I would try that or not but he recommended it so its the one I use.

if you are using nonethanol fuel, use seafoam
if using ethanol fuel, use startron
