Fuel tank / fuel polishing need in Charleston, SC

My 18 ft center console is 21 years old and it has the dreaded brown particles showing in the site bowl of my Racor again. I need my fuel polished and or my tank cleaned to get this contamination out. I have cleaned it as best I could and there is no more water or sludge. Can anyone recommend someone who will stand behind their work in fuel polishing? Or does anyone have another suggestion?

Try a $5 bottle of startron, the blue stuff.

we have a company that comes and does it
last one was about $350

startron will not help with that problem

sorry - I didn’t mean to be so short with my thread, got pulled away.

I was saying to try the startron becuase it did help me clear my fuel up in the past and it got rid of the salt and pepper flakes that I was finding in my filters. I had 200 gallons of fuel that was causing trouble and was looking at a $500 bill to clean everything.

I threw in a bottle of startron and the enzymes broke down the flakes. For a few bucks its worth a shot…

I had been using the Startron and I love it. I used it on two previous refuelings, but not the very last. And then my problem with the engine started again.

I just think if there was a reputable fuel polisher who will stand behind their work, all I have is a 35 gallon tank.

I also heard I can put a 2 micron racor on instead of the 10 micron I have on now, that would help.

Thanks!

I had a similar issue with a large amount of diesel that had a lot of dirt and crud in it. I got a 12v fuel pump and put it in after the racor (2 micron) then had the pump discharge going back into the tank fill with a piece of hose to get everything swirling and moving. I let the pump run all day recirculating the fuel.

Racor looked nasty but the fuel and bottom of the tank looked great. Total cost was about 50$ for the pump and filter.

Did you recently switch to E-10 fuel?

E-10 was used 2 summers ago. The problems started then and still dealling with it.

I may buy a 12 volt fuel pump and some fuel line and and hook it up and run it thru a new 2 micro Racor…over and over again for hours till the crap is out.
