Fuel/Water Separator Install Ques.???????

I just bought a Yamaha Mini-10 Micron fuel/water separator (yes, I probably should have bought a Racor but this was a really good deal on Ebay along w/2 filters) and I have 2 questions: 1) Is there any reason I can’t use 90 degree elbow hose barbs? Would this in any way restrict fuel flow versus straight hose barbs? 90 degree elbows would suit my install better but I don’t want to create any problems by doing so. 2) dumb question but, does the primer bulb go before the filter (between the tank and filter) or after the filter (between the filter and the motor)? This is going on a 2-stroke 70 HP.

Thanks!!

The bulb can go on either side of the FWS, but it’s easier to prime up if it’s between the tank and the FWS (you’d be pushing fuel through rather than pulling it).
I don’t know for sure, but I can’t imaging you’d have a problem using 90 degree barbs as long as your fuel line is of adequate size (5/16 should be plenty big).

I don’t know about the hose barb situation, but my primer bulb is between my filter and the motor.

between the filter and the motor is pretty much the standard. actually, i dont know i’ve ever seen one between the tank and filter

between filter and motor is standard
between filter and tank makes it much easier to prime system, but if there was an obstruction, it would allow you to pressurize the filter assembly, and thats not good

the 90’s wont hurt anything on that motor

Thanks folks, I knew I could count on everyone for good info.
