fuel water seperator

can you reuse the filter after emptying?

Not reccomended, in a pinch one could tho.

WHY??

Would you dump out an oil filter and reuse it, do not see where the risk is worth the savings

I do understand the question but I am sure there are things that are in the filter that can not be dumped out.

Every couple of months I spin off my primary filter and dump it into a glass to check for water and debris. If there is no water or a bunch of crud I spin it back on…there is nothing wrong with doing this with a fuel filter. However, I change the filter every 6 months regardless.

For the sake of $12 why would you want to?

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. FISH 24/7---- 25 Grady w/ a couple of Gas Guzzling 175 Johnsons “O-SEA-D” the old “Havanadaydream”

It is not a matter of being cheap for me. The motive is that with all the issues of bad fuel I like the piece of mind that knowing there isn’t an accumulation of water in the filter that could cause me a problem on the water in which case I would replace. I know some will say why not just replace. Well, there is not need to replace a fuel filter after 2 months when I’m just checking for water. Yeah, they are only $12, but why spend money unnecessarily?

The answer to the orginial post is yes; you can reuse the filter after emptying.

I though so. It’s only a couple of months old but I just want to see how much is building in it. $12 bucks is not much money but that was not the question.
