Full moon and mud minnow mortality

Last weekend I was fishing with a friend and our kids out of Georgetown/ Murrells. Friday our minnows from gtown died at a rate I haven’t seen. When we bought more in Murrells the next day, the bait guy said his were dying too – said it was because of the full moon. He told us they would be fragile. They were, even with recirculating bait well. We had only three live ones at the end of our day. So, I googled it. Apparently the mud minnows spawn in spring on a full moon. The bulls wear themselves out vying for females. After reading this I remembered showing my son roe from one of the minnows. Anyway, I’m a believer. This may be old news, but I thought it was interesting enough to share.

P.S. – while searching I found a thread about this on either this site or hull truth, but then couldn’t find it again.
