Full Moon-Mahi

Guys,

Any thoughts or experience with fishing for mahi on a full moon?

Thanks,

Grouper seem to have lock jaw. If the dolphin are around they are usually eating no matter the moon phase.

My experiance is full moons are normally slow fishing days…

Redstripe knows his grouper… Bottom fishing will slow wayyyy down on the full moon. I have had some rockin days trolling offshore two or three days before the full moon all the way through two or three days after. The full moon tide/currents will create some nasty rips that collect weeds and debris and in turn develop ecosystems. Also caught a really nice blue one last year ON the full moon as well as 19 dolphin. Good luck!

Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.

Thanks guys! If its nice on sunday, I’m going either way! I took the boat down to Bimini in 2011 and had a full moon. The marlin fishing was off and was explained to me that the full moon fish will feed at night. But I hope mahi will eat their heads off either way!

Thanks,
Paul
