Full Moon Trout

I tried something I’ve never done before. I decided to try fishing by the light of the full moon and was on the water by 6am. Using a white 3 1/2 " Slam Shady I caught one 18" trout that I kept for dinner and five between 19" and 23" that I released along with a couple shorts and a 17" redfish. The moon was going down as the sun was coming up and when the sun came up the bite was over.

A 23 is a year maker for me, nice job. Moon set minor action

My PB is 23.5”, solid Mr L!

Glad to hear you’re getting that water time, good for the soul… and the belly when you’re doing it right.

Opti and I have a mutual acquaintance who loves to fish for (and release) the big girls by the light of the moon, you should try it in the summer when it’s the nicest time to be out!

Glad to see you posting, sir! Thanks for the report and congratulations on some fattys! Next couple of weeks should be pretty good, I know im ready too

One of these days I’ll be joining said acquaintance out there!

I did the same thing in December (having never tried it before) and it made a huge difference. It was 29 degrees 5AM. I was hesitant since I was alone but went for it. End up with 40 with most caught at sun up.

At least you were busy catching fish to keep a little warmer
