Funny story

Hey everyone, haven’t been fishing too much recently, but had something funny happen to me the other day - thought I’d share

Was out early the other day pre-dawn tooling down the Cooper in my Whaler. There were a couple container ships coming and going and associated tug boat wakes, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I was between the ships and hit a smallish wake, but enough to make the old boat smack down (doesn’t take much!). Anyway, just as it does this something smacks me in the side. Felt like something in the boat going overboard or a bungee snap. Looking around, taking inventory, it seems like everything is in order. Kinda bewildered, I shrug my shoulders and keep going.

Anyway, had a pretty slow couple hours of catching so decided to bag it and head in about 8AM. Reach back to fire up the motor, look down and solved the mystery [:0] A little Spanish mack beaned me! There it was laying between the battery and bulkhead. Had a good laugh over that.

PeaPod, don’t judge me - I know you see the beer cap there too.

I wish I could get Spanish to jump into my boat…I can’t seem to catch the little eff’rs.

That is funny. I remember one time when we were kids,my Granddad, brother, sister and I were heading up a creek when a mullet jumped into the boat and hit my sister square in the chest. She hollered, “THAT (**() FISH SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME!” She was about 4. My Granddad taught her that kind of stuff to drive my Mom mad. He thought it was hilarious.

I had a similar experience this past week at Edisto. Me and the wife were going down the Dawho river in the ICW headed towards the North Edisto up on plane at about 35~40mph when about 15’ off the bow just to the left I saw a huge fish come clean out of the water. I got a real good look at the nearly 5’ long fish that nearly hit the boat on the way back down. My wife asked me what that was after we both caught our breath and I told her it was a sturgeon… a big one. That thing almost scared the crap out of me.
