picked stretch to captain a little industry tournament we had last Friday…half day inshore with me and a buddy…nice day on the water and I learned a lot, especially about flounder…as stretch was easing his finger mullet back to the boat along the bottom he says “see, when a flounder hits it like this he is just mouthing the bait to turn it around so it goes down head first”…then he eases the rod tip back and forth continuing to explain how the flounder is just chilling, trying to eat his mullet and waiting for the angler to get excited and pull it out of the fish’s mouth…another 10 count or so then he applies some pressure and the circle hook does its job perfectly…he called the fish on the first strike…
1 keeper flounder, 1 small flounder and a daymaker slot red that went 4lb 9oz…all I lacked for my first inshore slam was a keeper trout…and we gave them every opportunity at sunrise throwing topwater for an hour…
Jim and I had a great day John, thank you for edumacating me and making the trip very relaxed and enjoyable…
I had the pleasure of fishing with the infamous Stretch a few months ago. Sometimes you don’t realize how much you don’t know until you fish with someone who does. Top-notch captain and an even better guy.
“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”
I bet he got a great tip for sharing that knowledge. I know if I was on corporate paid trip and had no expenses involved I would throw the captain some scratch for teaching me things I could use in my own fishing trips from here on out.

I think he was satisfied with his tip…did you expect me to not come away without learning something? heck, I even learned a few things when I fished this same trip with you 2 years ago…you sound jealous, hope your charter took care of you as well…
I like the Bonzo glare, that fish looks a little shocked! Did you toss any of the Who Dat’s I see in the boat? Any luck with those? I bought a couple but haven’t tried them yet, was thinking they’d be a little more fall/winter.

not sure what a “who dat” is but we did throw topwater in the morning…lots of rolls but no hooks ups…
