FutureBeach Discovery 124 SOT any good?

Anyone have any experience with this specific kayak?

I am interested in kayak fishing on the creeks/ICW/wando/etc
Is it stable, tracks well enough, somewhat fast, hold gear/coolers, etc etc

Would it be a good choice for me? Weekend redfish/trout/flounder fisher. I am 6ft tall and weigh 190lb

pros/cons etc

DICK’s has this mdoel for $300, is that a good price?

THANKS!

If you want to get on the water cheap - yes…make sure you have a PFD and whistle.

Ok so does that mean you have experience with it? Any more info you can relate? And yes I am looking to get on the water cheap, for now.

We have a Future Beach (not sure what model). We bought it years ago when our oldest son said he wanted a kayak. We did not want to spend much only to find out he didn’t like it. They are inexpensive, starter/entry level kayaks. There are a few Youtube video reviews of it. Other than that, that’s about all I can tell you. Not knowing your skill/experience level, it is hard to say if you’d be happy long term in it. many folks start out with something similar and find they want to trade-up not long after.

I did paddle a similar Future Beach kayak once. This model is around 10’-4" or so. The kayak won’t have the best tracking. Lots of corrective strokes and it was rather slow compared to a 13 or 14’ kayak. Plus the Discovery only has 300 lbs of capacity - I wouldn’t load it down with a lot of gear. The main turnoff for me on this kayak would be the seat - it doesn’t have much going for it on the comfort-side.
