FYI.......

We were on a good streak around here without any poofs and then we get one over the boat ramp.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

They need to watch 200 boats launch at a Bass tour. in 15 min or less

Yep. That’s how it’s done when everyone involved knows what the hell they’re doing.

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

I’ve read a few and commented on a few posts about Boat ramp etiquette. It is a topic that I’d guess everyone on this site knows about, but away from here not a lot do.

What may be needed is actual law enforcement at our busier ramps. If the light turns green and a car does not move you get a ticket. Maybe we could come up with some laws around our ramps. It is only going to get worse as populations grow and even more inexperienced “boaters” use our public ramps.

I’d say in today’s world anyone under 20 80 needs to have some kind of boater training or show they know how to operate one.

“Why Bruce?”

I’d support a call for a mandatory boater’s education course. That’s more practical than boat ramp laws, in my opinion, mainly because there’s not enough DNR LEO’s to police every busy ramp. At a certain age, you have to have taken a Hunter’s Ed course and have your card before you’re allowed to get a hunting license. I see the Boater’s Ed course requirement no different.

of our boat ramp on Memorial Day and, instead,
put up bleachers and charge people who want to
watch.”

When I lived in Ft. Lauderdale we often made an afternoon out of the large county boat ramp. We would bring a portable grill, lawn chairs, coolers and a boom box. Quite the show!

Penny used to do just that and post pics on this site of the many antics at the boat landing.

I normally stay away from the water on holidays for just that reason.
Wife really wanted to go for a ride today and the tide at Bushy Park
was good for the morning. Came back after 4 hours only to have to wait while people unloaded and stored gear blocking all access for 20 minutes.
I got out of my boat and proceeded to wait and see if either of the two trucks would move. They didn’t.
Got my truck and trailer and pulled to the make ready lane and continued to wait. One truck finally moved and I was able to load and pull out of the way. Other truck was still blocking a ramp as I pulled away.
We still had a good day. I won’t get used to inconsiderate people though.
