and whats a walleye ?

It’s only the best</font id=“size4”> fresh water fish in America. IMO.

Never forget a little mom and pops restaurant near Grand Forks that had all you could eat walleye for $8.99 every Friday.

OK, I’ll bite (pun intended). best</font id=“size4”> at what?

I believe Fred is saying it’s the best eating freshwater fish, which it is.

I figured that was what he was talking about. Kinda hard to beat Crappie for taste so Walleye must REALLY taste good to be the best tasting freshwater fish.

Not this one.

“…be a man and PM me.”

I got to watch those fishing rods work today…they do catch the fish.

As a follow-up, these were not the GLX w/ recoil
Guides. They were a list price of $260 which was tagged on the rod sticker by loomis. West marine charges you at pickup if you have in store delivery so I returned them at the counter. Bummer - could have been hell of a deal if they were the GLX w/ recoils.

The link you posted brings you to the page, under the item specifications it states that they are the Fuji Alconite Guides. The rod showed $400 on the link but still, a G Loomis GLX for $200 and a limited lifetime warranty is still a good price. My buddy was very happy with his purchase.

Really it is 25% off a $260 rod. The GLX models all come with titanium recoil guides. I believe this to be a standard Loomis Walleye Series Rod. See the following link:

http://www.gloomis.com.au/content/g-loomis-saus/au/en/home/rods/baitcast/WALLEYE_SERIES.html

Had it been a GLX with the alconite guides I would have considered keeping it. It was my experience that West Marine misadvertised the deal on their website as they had the list price as $400 representing a GLX rod when what was shipped was not a GLX.

Anyhow, hope your friend enjoys the rod. I will spend my money elsewhere. Cheers!

Yeah I got mine and went “hmmmm.” So when I saw the tag and handled the rod I went right to my rod closet and got out my 7’1" GLX held then side by side and flexed the tips side by side on the ground. I decided to keep it. I put a 3000 Ci4 on it off another rod and took it out. Casting was the same I could sling a Zman a good way. The rod is light and had good feel. The major different was the feel of the hook set. This model was a softer set than the GLX. When the trout would take the bait the tip also flexed a tad more. Not the deal I was hoping for but I still liked its performance. Probably the last rod I get for a long time inshore.

I get it Chucktown I debated doing the same but after using it and catching some dinks and a few 17’ trout my buyers remorse went away.
