G Loomis lovers...

This is an unreal deal. I got this rod last year and LOVE IT! Paired it with a nice new Stadic Ci4 2500 10lb camo braid!

Happy Holidays!

Thanks - love these rods! Grabbed 2 of them. Only 1 left.

Thanks again!

No worries. I bought one too. Pretty happy that I can have two rigged up with different baits to go after reds and trout. I really love the feel of that rod and for the price I am still in shock. They must be clearing out for a new model like they did with the Shimano Ci4 reel a few years back.

You gotta love being happy to purchase a $200 rod

After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.

I’m not sure all my rods/reels cost $200. I’m going to buy myself something nice when I retire and can actually use it.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?

I was wondering how long it would be before someone came along to “poo poo” on this. Surprised it made it past three comments.

People like what they like, even when other people don’t like it.

“…be a man and PM me.”

what model of rod is it … gl2, gl3, glx ? other? how can you tell if it is a ‘deal’?

and whats a walleye ?

This is a discontinued G. Loomis Walleye Series rod. Pretty sure it was in the GLX family. I believe MSRP was right around $400 but I could be misremembering.

No one is complaing except you.

No one, got it. Thanks Fritz.

No “poo pooing” here, just envious he has time to fish. Buy what you like and can afford. If I bought one right now, it would just collect dust in the garage along with the rest of my gear.

BLUF: This thread was for those that enjoy the feel of a Loomis rod see the deal on the 7’1" Walleye Series light rod which all rods in that series are the GLX which retail between $400 and $425. Not sure which guides are on it as it says Fuji Alconite Guides. The one that my GF got me last year has the recoil guides which I am a fan of seeing there are no ceramic inserts to pop out of the eye due to a bulky knot.

It’s all good guys we all make choices. These choices impact our lives and can afford us or limit us. I have a good friend who’s a great hunter. He killed a beautiful buck every year. Then he choose to have kids with his wife and all those big beautiful buck pics stopped coming. Before kids he saved all his vacation and took the 2 weeks off right at the rut. That was his choice and most other hunters talked trash about him. He poaches or he’s baiting (illegal in VA) but like today we see a lot that people hate to see others succeed. I guess it all boils down to that natural human nature to be jealous. In the end he is just a better hunter. Kids are all grown up and he’s back to shooting giants.

Is this a rod for the weekend warrior probably not. If you like dunking bait and fishing the jetties for bulls again not for you. If you fish 2-5 times a week like getting after reds with artificails baits on the flats and chasing trout then take a serious look. It’s light and has great feel. Paired with the right light reel it has been a dream for me. Most of my other rods are St. Croix Premiere 7’ all different ML, M, MH all with 2500 to 4000 reel pairings. I also have 2 St. Croix Mojo in Lite and ML. I always have 5-6 rods on the boat rigged differently because I hate wasting time retying. I know what I am targeting before I go and I have everything from jerk baits, cork with a vudu shrimp, trout eye with a paddlez, ned lock with a TRD in green pumpkin or The Deal color ready to roll.

Some of that hated success:

Couldn’t agree more.

I prefer the surf series old school loomis rods for big bull reds. Really miss my 70% discount off of retail, those were the days.

Fritz if you ever get that discount again PM me!!!

What rod do you like for Grouper and bottom fishing? I have the Penn Bluewater carnage 6’4" jigging (spinning) and a Trevala 6’ Heavy (conventional).

I am showing this deal no longer available? So maybe buyers jumped on it? I bought my first Loomis recently and love it because it is so much more sensitive. Some one exaggerated…you can feel a mud minnow breathing.

By the way, nice deer.

It’s only the best fresh water fish in America. IMO.

Never forget a little mom and pops restaurant near Grand Forks that had all you could eat walleye for $8.99 every Friday.

Old school (90’s) solid glass daiwa beef stick with snag proof guides. I think a buddy of mine still has one lying around you could have for like $20. It will need complete new set of guides from haddrels for $10 a pop but is near indestructible and loads perfectly for fishing live bait w circle hooks on Carolina rigs from the rod holder, I’m not Fritz but there is my .02

At the beginning of this thread, ChucktownMC stated there was only one left. I sent the link to my buddy and he bought the last one. It was a clearance deal and I’m sure it was to make way for the new model. He only fishes occasionally but it will be perfect paired with his small Stradic reel. Thanks Hookem for posting the link!

No problem FirefighterJ80 I was hoping that a few anglers from the Low Country would get to take advantage of that deal! I too ordered one and it’s scheduled to arrive today. My girlfriend got mine from Haddrells last year for Christmas and Mike Able helped her put a custom wrap on it with my name and the Texas Longhorns logo on it. It’s so awesome! Hints my handle Hook’em!

Love to fish and love my Longhorns!

If I come across any other nice deals I will post.
