G3 Boats, opinions, what do you have

Considering a new G3. What do you have? Likes/dislikes?

I’ve got an 1860CC with a Yamaha 90 2-stroke and love it. Floats shallow enough to flounder gig with 5 people and a full cooler and looks good rigged out to hunt ducks. Wide enough to provide a stable platform for shrimping and good room for inshore fishing. Perfect boat for all seasons here.

I had an 04 16’ and loved it.to me it did everything that I wanted to do and it stood up to the abuse that I put it through.the only trouble I had was the paint peeled on the floor after 3weeks of having it and G3 replaced the whole thing and I had no more problems.Storage wasn’t a big issue with me but they could have made a couple of changes to have some kinda storage.I just used the livewell as my storage.I had a 40hp yamaha on mine and that thing would put tears in your eyes when wide open.

Double D.
Formely g3 man

I’ve got an 2005 1860 CCT with a 90 hp yam. It’s the tunnel hull which makes it nice when your in the shallows. Yamaha, who makes G3’s says it will run it 6 inches of water. I love it, but unfortunately I’m being forced to sell it due to the economy and my job situation. Feel free to come by and take a look at her. She’s listed in the classifieds and I live over by The Citadel downtown.

Reel…check your PMs. I sent you one.

I have a 2008 1966DLX center console with a 90 Yamaha four stroke. Nothing but positives to say about it. For a skinny water fishing/shrimping/gigging boat…I would say it is one of the best “all around” boats in its class. Tons of room, storage and big decks too. The finish is very high quality too, exactly what you would expect from Yamaha. I would highly recommend

G3 is a great boat and so is a Wareagle. I have a Wareagle and love it. Mine is a 1542 with a 25 Mercury. I have a friend that has the Wareagle 17’ model with a 60 Yamaha on the back and it is a great all around boat. I personally like the track that runs all the way around the Wareagles that allow you to install almost anything anywhere you want to with a T headed bolt and a wingnut. I have an Avery popup blind that literally attaches with 4 t bolts and wingnuts. Rod holders, drink holders, switch panels, filet board, depth finder mount, extra cleats that can be moved easliy, flounder gigging lights, and the list goes on and on. All of these items are quickly mounted and removed with the t bolt and wingnut mounting system in the track.

G3 builds a solid boat. Seems to be an upper end price range, but very solid boat.

My fishing buddy has one. The fuel tank is in the rear and he had to put a plate (doel-phin) on the motor to aid in planing the boat out. His is the 16’ witha 60hp 2-stroke yammie. I would check the war eagle and see if the tank is forward to make boat plane out a little easier.

My 18ft G3 has a 21 gallon fuel cell in the back and it planes out in a nano second with a 90 Yamaha and a 17 pitch SS prop. Keep in mind I also have 2 Optimas back there for. It is out of control out of the hole. Top speed is 45 with 2 people, full of gas and a beer!

I did not have any trouble getting mine on plane with a 12gallon tank 2 batteries 2 people and fish gear and i had a40hp yamaha.

Double D.

I just bought a 18 ft center console with a 2 stroke 90 The guy had a jack plate on it and took it off before he sold it It has a whales tale on the motor but cavitation starts if you try to trim. I can only run half throttle, any suggestions?

Key West 152 CC 70 Yam

Look and see where the motor is hanging. Could be too high or too low. What size prop are you running? That could be wrong as well.

17 pitch prop and the cavitation plate is even with the bottom of the boat
