The Warden and I drove up to the Gadsdenville Landing hopping to trick a few mud minnows into a trap and there were 2 cars parked there with 2 flat tires each (4 total). At a little closer inspection, you could see that the tires had been punctured in the sidewalls by a knife or screwdriver.
So kayakers beware and if you can put a camera in your car to catch the vandals…it needs to be done. We felt bad for the 2 car owners…can you imagine coming back from a paddle to find you’ve got 2 flats because some a hole thought it was some kind of prank?

Unfortunately it is not the first time I hear about people’s car getting damaged or broken into. It’s sad to hear that those folks went to enjoy the water and then have to come back to flat tires. I hope they catch whoever continues to mess with people’s property. For me and my son we plan to have someone drop us off with the kayaks and then pick us up once we are done as we don’t trust that parking area. I heard that there are few houses nearby that would let people park in their yard, and even if it is for a fee I think people might be better off doing that.
One mad spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend. Two making a rendezvous on the water.
But more likely a piece of human scum with poor upbringing.
I’ve heard rumors that a lot of landings in several counties are up for Camera systems installed. I believe they have done it at Westbank due to so much theft and vandalism. So watch what direction you are facing while peeing…
A buddy of mine texted me about 2 cars with all 4 tires flattened yesterday at Larry Koon Landing on Lake Murray. They were both parked in spaces designated for vehicle’s with trailers. And he said they looked like they were deflated, not cut or punctured. There are spaces for cars/trucks only at most ramps, but a lot of folks don’t use them because they are a little further away. That causes issues for the guys that need to park their trailers. While I’m not an advocate for cutting/deflating tires, these folks need to realize they are taking up much needed space.
I am not beyond leaving one of these on the windshield.

That Gadsdensville ramp area… A few years back I was enjoying a leisurely drive one Sunday morning. Went back there as that’s a beautiful stretch of property. Anyway, had a guy with a blue bandana covering his face come up beside my car at a stop sign and bang on my window. I took off and he followed behind (until I lost him) waving and hollering. It’s been a few years since I’ve been over there, but between that and the blue/red trap houses - it just isn’t safe back over there. No way I’d willingly leave anything I cared about in that vicinity.
Anyone had/heard of any issues at Gadsdenville recently? I’ve been using it occasionally and warning anyone I see there of the potential for vandalism. I figure the more people aware, the more we can all prevent these misfortunes. Fortunately, I haven’t ever had an issue. Plan to use the ramp today as soon as I punch the clock. I’m tempted to put up a camera in my windshield to deter any vandals, but not sure if that’ll do any good.
