Oregon had the #26 class in 2014 and yet they still managed to get to the final four (before choking in the championship). Class ranking is great and all but SC still picked up plenty of talent to improve the defense. No they didn’t pick up Fields or Arnette but the fact is, five stars can turn out to be heroes or zeroes. Carolina will improve next year at least by one game. Main issue is QB, although I am liking the sound of this Nunez kid.
Andy,
Don’t try to use logic with haters. The article even says that about most of them.
So you can ride the bench here at USC or goto another school and play a lot…hmmm
It that was my kid, I would advise him to seek playing time. Smaller schools are getting a lot of air time now, so why not.

Most of Oregon’s success is the system they run, they still pickup a 5star here and there but they are usually skill players or RB’s. They use smaller framed O-line men to get off the line quick, and to be fast enough to pull when they need to. They don’t need great pass protection, because the QB doesn’t hold on the ball long enough. Yes 5stars can turn out to be zeros, but more times than not they come in and immediately help out or provide quality depth. Scar’s problem was there D-Line, they were not very big and could not get pressure on any QB. Hoping that a JUCO or a Freshmen can come in and be an immediate impact is not good. Nunez has talent, but is very raw. Doubt you will see him on the field this year, Connor Mitch will be the starter.

Uhhhh Cam Newton was JUCO transfer… So guessing a national championship isn’t good enough???

I think its a balance thing Fish. Its great to be able to fill a few key spots with experience each year but having to fill 9 or 10 seems to imply something is wrong with the overall recruiting and coaching strategy.
They are not filling 9 or 10 spots with JUCO. But even if they did, I still fail to see where bringing people that are ready to play today is a bad thing.
If a true freshman comes in ready to play, that is considered a good thing, so why is that different than a JUCO
As I said nothing wrong with bringing in players who are ready to play. I wish Clemson would do it but our academic standards are too high. And that’s not a dig that’s just facts.
I thought USC was filling the ranks with a ton of transfers and JUCO’s this year. Guess I was wrong.
