Guys - Wanted to see if we could enlist your help down here in GA. We are trying to do what you guys in SC did almost 25 years agoestablish gamefish status for Redfish.
Time is of the essence and we have only the first few days of this week to finish strong and contact the GA reps who are beginning to get could feet. To make a long story short, Russo’s Fish Market in Savannah has managed to pressure our reps into adding a commercial quota to the gamefish bill - needless to say, the definition of gamefish status should prevent just that from happening.
We need your help, and anyone you know who can help - post anywhere you can. If you think this doesn’t effect SC, think again. All of the border areas (Daufuskie, HHI, Pinckney, etc) are seeing more and more pressure from our guys because of the declining fishery here.
Please visit www.georgiaredfish.org and use the “quick email tool” to send an email to at the least Ben Watson, if you can - everyone. Tell them to pass the original HB36 bill, not the revised version that includes a commercial quota. It’s that simple.
Are they allowed to come into our sc waters? That kindof makes me mad they would do that. Oh and, Email sent.
We fish at least 50% of the time in SC waters, I know guys that it more like 95%. There are plenty of reds in Savannah they are just difficult to catch due to pressure.
Btw thanks everyone for the support on this, SC has it figured out. Its a shame GA can’t seem to see the difference.
