Gander Mountain is planning to open its first S.C. store in North Charleston in the fall.
The outdoor gear and apparel retail shop will be located in a redeveloped 40,000-square-foot space in the Promenade at Northwoods, across Rivers Avenue from Northwoods Mall, according to a news release from the company.
Gander Mountain will sell new and used firearms, gear and accessories for hunting, fishing, camping, boating and archery, along with men’s and women’s active performance outdoor and casual apparel. Some brands sold at the store will include The North Face, Columbia, Under Armour, GSX, Carhartt, Guide Series and Kuhl.
The store is expected to create up to 70 new jobs, the company said.
“As South Carolina’s retail sales leader for 21 consecutive years, we are happy to welcome Gander Mountain to North Charleston’s flourishing market,” North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said. “Gander Mountain will be an amenity to our residents and visitors, and we anxiously await its opening.”

Maybe that gym next door will expand into that space once they go out of business.

Never had much use for Sports Authority…
A bad day fishing is much better than a good day at work.
Went to Sports Auth. twice never had anything I wanted and the help ,Well what help would be better stated!!
Cabelas recently opened in Augusta and Gander Mountain just broke ground for a store here.
Bass Pro backed out here twice and required alot of incentives. Gander did not.
I have only been to the Cabelas once during the Grand Opening. My fishing bux go to the Low Country business folks.
