garmin 3210 repairs

depth reads 0. I think its a transducer issue/connection. It powers up, reads temp, radarect works fine, it just seems to be depth that is out of wack. Any suggestions on a repair person.

call garmin,when i had this problem,they were a big help…

also if you know someone who has a spare transducer you could try it and see if that works…

most of the time it is the ducer…

i have a spare transducer but i don’t plan on being down in c town anytime soon…

thanks

With most units, I would suspect the ducer first, but Garmin has had a lot of problems with their sounder black boxes (e.g., GSD 22). They give excellent customer service, but they won’t always be honest with you about the well-known sounder problems and RADAR problems they’ve had (they’ve also had a LOT of “Error code 5” problems with their RADARS). Call them, and get a sounder swap-out. I had the same sounder problem. That’s what it was for me–the sounder module, not the ducer. I swapped the unit, and the problem was solved. I also had to swap out my RADAR pedestal for the unfixable “error code 5” problem. The swap solved the problem. There’s plenty of talk about all of this on the discussion forums in cyberland–particularly the sounder problems Garmin has had. Some people have had to swap out the sounder unit twice before getting a good one and resolving the problem, because they got a bad swap-out too.
