Garmin 5212 repair

Any recommendations for local firm that can look at my Garmin 5212? Garmin does not service them anymore. Unit does not seem to be receiving or sending.

Have you unplugged the transducer cable from the unit and took a good hard look at the prongs in there, both sides… If there is noticeable corrosion you can take an old toothbrush and some electrical cleaner and give it a good once over and see if the communication will resume. If it’s not something simple like that on the exterior you may start to look for a new unit. Getting into those head units can be a pain at best and most of the printed boards inside are epoxy poured. Have you done any updates or anything lately?

Have you updated the software? I have a very old Garmin 498 (12 years old). About 2 years ago the GPS stopped working.
I updated the software and it works great now.

Thanks for input. I updated the software and all the cables are new. Unit had been sitting in garage for a year. Garmin said it is most likely the unit since neither the atennea or GSD were registering. Garmin stopped working on this unit last year and suggested I find a local marine electronics firm to look at. I appreciate the suggestions and will reach out to them

Please post what you find out. I just had my 3210 die and it would be worth it to me to get it fixed just to get my waypoints off it.
