Garmin 545s

Does anyone have a Garmin 545s? How do you like it? Did you add an external GPS reciever? Did you purchase any other chart cards?

Wayne, it is easy to use, very user friendly. The supplied charts are more than sufficient for most coastal applications but the maps do end as you follow rivers inland. If you stay in salt water the charts should be suficient. Though it doesn’t cause any real problems, the mounting bracket allows the unit to shake a little. (Flush mount=no problem). If you use the split screen with gps and sonar, the sonar section is rather small. The internal antenna works fine through a t top or bimini top.

Love mine. The antenna works fine, even in the garage.

Its a great little unit and the internal reciever does just fine under my hardtop.Have not bought the chip for it.
