So the new Garmin world base maps look pretty good. Is the new g2 blue maps worth the extra bucks or is the new base map enough? Don’t really need satelite photos to overlay the map just want good depth and wreck numbers.
It’ll give more contour depths. I didn’t see a need for it fishing inshore for markers and bank locations, and on the lake in 160+ water 3-5’ contour range is plenty for me.
If you need 1-2’ contour separation it might be worth it. Plus I hear in big harbors and offshore the 3D view can be kind of cool. Just not for me inshore and lakes on my 4" screen. If I had a 6" or bigger screen I thing the newer charts would be worth it.

Thanks for the input. Looking to purchase the Garmin echoMap 50s. It has a 5" screen. Know the local waters but will be going to the Keys in a month which is what’s making the decision more difficult. Anyone else out there?
