Garmin Striker7 vs. Lowrance Hook9?

Getting ready to pull the trigger…Any thoughts?

I have never had those particular units but have had Garmin & Lowrance & to me Garmin was more user friendly.

I just installed the striker seven on my Carolina skiff just to be used as a fishfinder. West marine had a sale and was able to get it for $249. The chirp feature alone is worth that price. The unit has a GPS but no mapping feature, so you can set waypoints and go back to them but you have no cartography to work with.

I love my striker 7. Worth the purchase.

They’re both good units. In general, I have a preference towards Garmin for the more intuitive menus, better built-in maps (although can’t use Navionics on current gen Garmin if that matters), and better customer service. That being said, go bigger. Hopefully you’ll never need the customer service, you can upgrade the map if the base doesn’t work for you, and the interface you’ll get used to. The bigger screen makes it sooo much easier to see the details.
