I not sure if there is any truth to it, but I heard that they could not build a dock at the ramp because of that fuel tank right next to it. If they built a dock, it would be classified as a “marina”. Again, no idea if there is any truth to it.
I think he’s referring to adding a dock with the existing tank there, those 2 combined pushes it into the marina category.
I was at the landing for the first time ever on Sunday (2/21). It was a minus tide and three boats in the 14-20ft range were able to maneuver about right at the landing. It looks like you are riding in a newly dug ditch.
SIde note, I drove to Garris to join some buddies camping on the ICW. They came to pick me up by boat. I spoke with an Eco Guide and they said I would get a $175 ticket if I left my car overnight. So, I parked my car just outside the gate, because I didn’t see a No Parking sign there. Luckily, It was still there in the morning. Officer Wagner was nice enough to just give me a warning. He could have easily towed me or written me a ticket. If you are thinking of camping, have someone drop you off. I got lucky, but I am under the impression they don’t mess around.
