Garris Landing seems like a pretty good place to fish…any comments?
So far I’ve caught a Speck off the boat at Morgan Creek and a Red from shore at Pitts Bridge…Looking for some Flounder.</font id=“Comic Sans MS”></font id=“size3”>
Caught my first redfish there… scared the crap out of me it hit so hard. Seen a few under the dock there. lots of good fishing around there.
I wish they’d dredge it out so you aren’t plowing mud at low tide.

They will start dredging right around the first of Jan. Should take about 3-weeks. The landing is supposed to remain open while this is done.
This is really good news!

Good luck with the dredging. DNR disapproved dredging Bushy Park because of the barge traffic.
no luck needed, the waterway in that section is being dredged right now.

Isn’t that nice aluminum dock owned by the federal government? Maybe THAT is why the landing is being dredged?

There’s an article in today’s P&C about the dredging.
The landing area will remain open but the ramp will be closed to the public while dredging goes on. THe Cape Romain ferry will still be in operation during the dredging.

DNR does not have the authority to deny a permit. They provide comment letters only. Only the US Army Corps of Engineers and DHEC have permitting jurisdiction over dredging projects.

Has there ever been support or a push for a dock there?
I hope they don’t dredge or put in a doch

Just to clarify…
The dredging is being done by Chuck Norris.
With a shovel and post hole digger.
Done with both hands at the same time.
I can see the tarponless season has taken a toll on you wiggs. Merry Christmas

I thought Peapod was just gonna gun the motor on his skiff on outgoing tide, and/or drag a bedframe through there

If anybody is still following the dredging is complete! A friend sent me a pic of a good sized boat planing off in the ditch at low tide.
I not sure if there is any truth to it, but I heard that they could not build a dock at the ramp because of that fuel tank right next to it. If they built a dock, it would be classified as a “marina”. Again, no idea if there is any truth to it.
A staging dock at a boat landing is not classified as a marina.

Excellent.
