Garris Landing

I’ve never used this Landing but it caught my eye since I fish up that way a good bit and always leave out of IOP. Never paid it attention in person but have seen it on the maps. Anyone here have experience with it? Would it be good to launch my 21 redfisher at any tide? Or only certain tides? Any advice/experience is appreciated!

It gets very shallow at low I can tell you that. Use to have a 14ft jon boat that I’d have to tilt the motor up to not plow mud. Gets crowded on the weekends. I avoid that place like the plague on the weekends, there are some pure idiots that like to use that ramp.

Sounds like I’ll just pay the $15 and stick to IOP then. Thanks!

No problem. Last time I was there on a weekend it was a Saturday in the early summer. No joke, it took 45 minutes to get in the creek, up to the dock, and wait for our turn for the ramp. If you don’t mind paying for IOP it honestly is worth it if you ask me

Coming from the upstate I come down 26 to 526 so IOP is actually a little closer anyway. I’ll keep paying my 15 and put in there. Thanks!

They definitely don’t know how to launch and load in a timely manner up there.God forbid they get two trailers on the ramp at the same time.

I’d like to see you get 2 trucks on that ramp at the same time.

I'll call you when I go get some oysters in about a month or so.I'll even bring some rock & rye and show you how to run the channel wide open so not to cause any traffic jams.Maybe you could show me a good clamming spot.

I really dislike Garris landing. So many signs that start with the word NO! I cant understand the need for a gate that closes night and re-opens in the AM. As far as I know, this is the only landing that has a daily closure. I don’t like the staff’s attitude of ownership and control. Years ago Once when shrimping, we had an engine failure and by the time we limped the boat to the landing , the gate was closed. Called DNR - no human answer. Finally got thru to the Sheriffs dept and a woman from the NF residence showed up to chew us out for not getting the boat out sooner. This woman told us how she hated how we baited the water and took shrimp from her area. Use the IOP landing. Pay the fee and at WOT its a nice drive
