Gas gauge

Found gas gauge is not working this weekend after fill up. Gauge shows a little life every once and a while with a bounce of the needle. Question is, fuel pick up in tank or the gauge it self. Looked under console for loose wires and everything was tight to the back of gauge. Any suggestions.

It is most likely your fuel sender. Just replaced mine the weekend before.

Sending unit.

Just had the same problem. I called Lars Reafler and he came to my house and put in a new sending unit in my driveway. Give him a call (843) 729-5108, he does excellent work and his prices are super affordable.

I was afraid it would be the sending unit! This is a 89 seapro and the gas tank is difficult to get to. I assume its on the top of the tank under the console.
Anyone know if west marine would carry? Thx for the help.

HiC, where did you get the sending unit from? Thx

west marine doesnt sell the sea pro (WEMA) sending units, that I am aware of

Thx, the boat is at Edisto and I’m in columbia, trying to figure out where I can pick up a sending unit and put it in on the next trip down.

My gauge seemed to read full or empty, nothing in between. I replaced the sending unit ($28) and it is fixed.

I had a WEMA on mine and the replacement wasn’t that bad. Three wires and five screws. The part was about 72 bucks after tax. Hanckel had it in stock. You may want to take the time to take it out as they come in different sizes mine was a 8" for a 18’ Key West with 40gal tank. Good luck.

Check the ground at the sender …
