GAS PRESSURE??

The last couple times out I have been having occaisional trouble with the motor cutting out, or not starting after sitting a while (fishing,capers,etc.). Yesterday and again this morning I can’t seem to get the ball tight on the gas line. I finally got the motor cranked and is idling fine but just no pressure on the ball. Any advice?

Don’t think it’s relevant but just in case it’s a 20’ Seahunt with a Yamaha 150 2 stroke.

Thanks for any help.

Try replacing the bulb. There is a valve in side that may not be closing which let’s the gas run. Back into the line.

Get a yamaha bulb and don’t worry about it for a few years. The tempos and sierras suck. If you still have problems, you probably have an air leak somewhere.

Tarpon120, I had nearly the exact same problem, although mine is a Suzuki 4 stroke. Motor would crank and idle fine, but when I put it wide open, would stall out in about 30 seconds and couldn’t ever keep the bulb primed. Turns out that it was water in the gas. Apparently the bad gas won’t burn quick enough to keep pressure in the bulb. Siphoned out the gas, put in fresh gas and haven’t had a problem. Using same bulb / gas line also. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully a new bulb will do the trick. Can you get a Yamaha bulb from West Marine or do I need to go to a dealer?

Low pressure fuel pumps. 3 of them. Do a Google search. Basically unbolt them leaving the hoses in tact, pump the ball. If gas comes out the rear weep hole of the pump…replace.
