The gas strut and hardware for the main center bow hatch was missing on my boat when I bought it. I want to put one back on and easy enough on the length and hardware. What about the strength? Seems like 20# would be enough and don’t want to overkill or it will be hard to close. Since in the bow, the hatch door has a taper. It’s about 20" wide at front and about 36" wide at rear. Length is about 20" - 24". The OEM mount location runs from the front lip of the opening to about the middle of the hatch door so it is out of the way when open. The extended length of the strut to the OEM mounting location is 20". Thoughts on the strength - is 20# enough or should I go to 40#? BTW, I know there are formulas for this but don’t have all of the exact info available for that, just looking for experienced opinion on what would be typical.
