Gator Processing????

Does anyone have any experience processing an Alligator? Trying to figure out if I can tan the hide myself and best way to prepare/bleed the meat.

I just don’t know if an extra $300+ is in the budget to take it somewhere.

I found it is well worth the $300. You dont have to worry about messing with it that night. Also you are gonna wanna take the meat to the processor anyways.Cordrays all the way

Contact Gatorgitter on here. He’s a lizard whisperer and knows more than anyone around about a gator.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

From what I read online you can process the meat just as other wild game. Any idea what the meat processor would do differently?

Salty, I saw the link about Gatorgitter with the 12’ nuisance gator. Sounds like he knows what he is doing.

GG has been dealing with gators in SC for 3 decades… The main thing with the meat is: remove all fat. if you ever get alligator fat in your mouth, you will never forget it.
