I need some information on the Goose Creek Res. I have a trailer tourn in a couple of weeks and me and my partner are thinking about fishing it. What are some hot areas to look at and what to throw?
What is a “trailer tourn?”
It is tx where you fish any public body of water and meet a central location to weigh your fish by the weigh in time.
I have fished bass tourney for over 25 years and I wouldn’t waste my time fishing there for a tourney. Bream is a different story.

fred- the gcr is not a waste ot time for bass fishing. i’ve caught many nice sacks of bass from there for trailer tournys. there are lots of quality bass in that lake-you just have to figure them out.

I agree, their are bass in there. The last time I went, caught one 8 pounds and a 4 pounder.

I think what fred is actually trying to say is with all the great fishing around here why would you fish the GCR. I actually like the place but If I were you I would be hitting the edisto or the combahee river. The shad are on the top and the fishing right now is crazy. We caught 17 today with the biggest being around 5 pounds
You hit it right Don. Lots of better places to catch bass. GCR gets hit pretty hard for bass and it seems that the bite is extremely varable from one day to next. If I were fishing a tournament I would look for something a little more dependable. I have had a lot of real good days there but a lot more bad to fair days. Especially when the rains are in the weather. A good rain turns them off for a day or so at the GCR.

Thanks for all the information. My partner suggested it. What about the cooper river? I am new to this river fishing. I used to fishing lakes. I moved here from chattanooga TN where I fished Lake Chickamauga alot.
cooper river has excellent bass fishing. GCR aint bad either, i primarily fish gc with a green lizard, no lead. The ricefields in Cypress Gardens (cooper river) hold lots of fish. among with many other cooper areas.
