Made it out to the nearshore reef again yesterday. This time suprisingly there was an absence of Black Sea Bass(even the small ones, only caught 8 or 9 all day no keepers).Ended up catching 17 spades,1 lady fish,1 ribbon fish, many toadfish( i think 1 may have been a record),a croaker,a few pin fish,a 20"weakfish(biggest i ever caught) & a 17" flounder. We had lots of fun and still got back in b4 the wind got too bad.All in all a great time once again with family.

We went to The Hector after filling up with pogies, 1 throw, floated the net, took 2 of us to bring it aboard. Just hope they grow a little before Tailwalker. We drifted for a while and found what we thought would be a good spot to anchor up on. We fished the whole water column, Live chum, dead chum, Pogie on a balloon, CD teaser for the spades (seemed to scare them more than tease), Livey on a Carolina Rig, shrimp on small circles below the surface and squid on a bottom rig. Feakin fish had freakin lockjaw!

Then the Carolina rig goes off and a nice but short (32-3/4") cobia was brought to the boat and released. After that it came alive, cobia, and cudda swimming around (swimming not biting), spades showed up, but still no BSB other than a few youngins. Though later we did finally get a few knotheads.

On the way home stopped at 3 mile and lost a bunch of rigs to the bluefish. They eat anything. Bringing a carolina rig up to rebait, a blue jumped and eat a naked circle hook. At least if the pogies don’t grow in the next 3 weeks we will have some split tail bluefish to pull.
