Georgetown Hole

Thinking about heading out to Georgetown hole Thursday or Friday since the weather seems to be looking good and it looks like there is a bit of a temp break in that area. Im new to the area just wondering if anyone has been out that way recently and had any reports.

Troll for tuna and wahoo. Good a place as any.

reellatitude,

I was also considering going out tomorrow but can’t find anyone that can ride along with me. Odd request, but if you are heading out and have extra space, I sure would like to make it out there tomorrow. I’ve recently moved back from living in Miami for 4 years, but use to fish the offshore water here a lot; caught a lot of wahoo and tuna in these waters. I have gear; trolling rods/reels, Wahoo lures, Tuna lures and most importantly, gas money.

Sorry Dsroufe…Unfortunately life got in the way of getting offshore last week but I will let you know if I got a spot on any other trips. Im new around here so always looking for a crew. Im keeping an eye on this Friday looking pretty flat so might do that.

I was newer to the area and have recently been shopping for charts / numbers. Decided to go with cmor maps and was surprised with how georgetown hole looks, going to take a trip with it soon!

Well, I sure do wish life got in the way for me, because I did decide to head out and my engine threw a rod within 5 miles of us heading back in. So, I got my stranded offshore badge. The water wasn’t quite as nice as they predicted but we sure did fill up the grocery cart! Not quite worth the cost of this trip, though! ha

Dsroufe,
Sorry to hear about the engine trouble - bad way to close a good day of fishing. Had similar luck back in October but was 50 miles out with my father in law when we lost an engine due to A LOT of water in the fuel. We were very lucky not to lose both engines upon inspection and draining of all fuel/water separators the next day. Long, frustrating day to say the least.

Anyhow, I’m moving into my second season of the offshore fishing game but getting my ducks in a row. Two things:

  1. If your rig is temporarily down, I’d be happy to let you ride along my next time out. I’m fishing a 282 GW Sailfish.
  2. Not sure what you’re running but I’ll be pulling my Twin 2001 200HP HPDI’s off and repowering with F250’s. The HPDI’s will be up for sale very soon. I know it’s a long shot but you never know.
