GeorgeTown May4th -May11th

Coming down for a week to try and learn how to catch fish locally and up down the coast. If there are any experienced anglers that would want to tag along either inshore or nearshore please email me. We could use the experience. Nothing needed but experience fishing this area.

Bumping this up again to include Bulls Bay, Charleston and really any area from edisto to MI. We just want to fish and thought it would be fun to take out someone who does not have a boat right now or maybe retired and does not fish much alone any more.

Also Any retired or active duty military, I would be glad to take you fishing , just holla.

If you are new to the area and haven’t spent any time around there…mark bulls bay off of your list unless someone with experience there is going with you. Winyah Bay you can do on your own. Get a chart and study it. Much of the great times I have had fishing in the last 15 years has been learning WB down to Cape Romain. Take a bunch of different baits and try varying methods. You don’t mention what you want to target. The jetties at Georgetown produce about everything. If the weather is ok the outside of the North Jetty is a good place to start. This section of the board is a close knit, tight lipped group for the most part. All are good peeps. We have all put in the hours finding our spots so it may be tuff getting someone to come out and give you locations. Thebest thing about WB is that it’s not really a destination fishery for the yuppie flats boat crowd. You will see people in pontoon boats redfishing. Hope this helps.

Appreciate the advice. We like Georgetown because its only 1.5 hours from home and the closest destination. We have had far better luck in edisto and dont need a lot of help there. WB though has so far eluded us. I think the last time we went I spent a good 3 hours trying to get back out of mud bay. I had to try it just before low tide. I knew better though. We would love to fish North inlet but not sure the best way to get there. We have not fished the jetties but we did ride out there once. I did not see much there when we came down. One only has to look at google earth to see where all the boats are parked at the jetties. We might go out on a charter one day also. We just need to learn to fish this area so we can be productive and stay close to home so we are planning to spend the week in that area and we might fish some other places as well.

You can catch anything at the jetties. Also the channel and dock around the lighthouse can hold some big reds. The shell banks are no secret, also the marsh around mother morton can be good. The only uber shallow area mentioned is Mother Norton. It is mostly sand…nothing hard. Again study a chart.

the weather sucks next week, so I am headed to Jacksonville Florida to fish. A little warmer, no rain and the fish are already there.
