And when I say “We” in the title of this post I mean a lot of people chipped in to make it happen!
It all started about a week ago after Joey and Jessica took delivery of their brand new shark gray Freeman 34VH. Myself along with team Mas Pescado decided to fish with Joey and Jessica in the GT meat fish slam since Bully would be out of town at a mandatory wedding shower with Ms Freeman. Well the forecast was looking insanely good and a deal with undisclosed details was worked behind the scenes to break him loose from the shower. Normally this would be a great deal cause we could now fish the Freeman 37VH but as any new owner would Joey and Jessica wanted to run their new boat. So the plan was set!
At the Captains meeting in GT. Team Mas Pescado lead by none other than Swilley himself says we are in this together! We are gonna tag team it and if either boat wins its a team win! He even went as far as buying the Calcutta for Team Flash Point, the 30 second old name of Joey’s boat new boat. Guess the peanut gallery didn’t have much confidence in Captain Joey and his new pontoon cause it only cost team Mas Pescado $50.
Being a bit short handed on the Flash point, I called in my home town boys off the All Rise but they blew us off for a trip of their own. Joey made a few calls and with in a few minutes we had a crew. A crew that had never fished together before, never tournament fished, and really never fished a Freeman set up like Joeys. Well… here goes nothing! Joey told me Friday night while we are rigging. These are good guys. They catch on quick, they will listen to what we say, and we can do this! Alright Capt! We can work with that!!
Blast off at 4am for a run south. Knowing we were against GT’s best meat fisherman we were going to have to find some kind of competitive advantage. Figured we would use the 68mph sled to cover some ground!
Lines in at 6am! Need 3 fish to win a Wahoo, Tuna, and Dolphin!
6am on the button, we set the trap and it was go time. Beautiful sunris
