So, last year I found this awesome bridge that looked like it was very good to fish off of. I saw some people crabbing and catching small stingrays and this year I thought about giving it a go.

Does anybody catch any Sharks, Blackdrums, Redfish, Blues, Flounders, Whiting, or maybe any brackish water fish like Blue catfish? Hey I have fished off the Broadriver bridge in Beaufort, SC and the sharks are a blast on cut bait.

Are there any bait fish (greenbacks or mullets) or shrimp near it for a cast net?
-
Is the fishing best on incoming tide or outgoing tide?
Thanks,
Wayne
Most common fish caught off the broken bridge are Blue Cats and Redfish; Eels if you fish till dark. Usually the catfish are small. Redfish of all sizes are caught right along the grass. I don’t fish it enough to know which tides are best. Crabbing can be pretty good at times off the bridge also. Most commonly used bait is dead shrimp. You’d have a tuff time throwing a cast net I think, probably get snagged if you did.
Thanks for the information. I think I might try to fish this and target Blue Cats using a fish finder rig with a cork on the leader to keep it off the bottom. Seen a lot of you tube movies suggestion this kid of rig so creatures on the bottom will not get into your bait. Also, probably rig up a tandem hook rig to fish crab on the bottom, for Redfish, and a shrimp above that, for a Seatrout or Seabass. Probably will not even worry about the cast net because, I will just buy raw shrimp from Wal-Mart.
Sound like you have a plan…Good luck

We stayed over night at the comfort inn before so I grabbed a rod out of the boat and walked down there. I did not catch any fish but I did reel in a few blue crabs. I have heard good things about fishing there. I also heard the fishing was better across 17 at the coast guard pier. I don’t know how legit fishing from the coast guard pier is but a guy i work with said he caught his limit of reds in no time over there. of course this was about 3 years ago.

If you get a chance, can you ask him if he was fishing on the bottom and what bait. I saw a video that said using a fish finder rig with a cigar cork on the leader was best since the crabs tend to steal bait. Thinking that if I use cut bait then I will get into sharks and rays. If I use Shrimp and Crab then I will get into Redfish and Sea trout. And if I use some Sonny’s stink bait then maybe I can get into some Blue Catfish. Either way I am going to get into something on either one of those piers.
Thanks!
