Georgia Report

Friday went out thinking that was going to allow me to get out and look for triple tail. I got out about 6:00 am and fished inshore looking for my first top water fish of the season and I found a aggressive red that killed my spook. I fished inshore till about 8am wound up with 5 slot reds and a flounder. I headed around the Jekyll pier and 2 to 3ft seas looked more like 4 to 6 ft and then the storms rolled in so I headed home.

Saturday was absolutely a gorgeous day on the water. I tried to throw top water early but the winds from 6 to 7 were a little to much and made the shallow water a little muddy. I fished inshore for a couple of hours with only one flounder so we headed off for triple tail. We seen 7 and wound up catching 6 total all on live shrimp. 3 were around 16" and we had one keeper. After it started to get crowded and the tide turned and started going out we headed back inshore. I got my first slam of the year(Triple tail, redfish, flounder and trout). End of the day we had 11 reds 2 big female trout, 2 flouder and 6 triple tail. We kept a couple reds and the triple tail but the trout went back unharmed cause they were fat and full of eggs. Reds, trout and flounder were all caught on paddle and curly tails on a 1/8 jig head.

nice triple ts

Good job letting the big female trout go so they can make babies…but trout roe wrapped in thick cut bacon and pan seared is some goooooood eats.

If you’re not effecting the world around you in a positive manner…you’re taking up too much space.

I thought triple tails were deep water fish. Guess I dont know as much as I thought.

Some can be caught in deeper water by markers and bouys. They also float on their side at the surface and can be sight casted to. We were about 3 miles off the beach around Jekyll island and St.Simons.

:smiley:Nice Fish man!!! Tripletail that’s the one thing I miss about home. I was down a couple weeks ago, and my buddy Griffin and I ran out there and saw 9 fish:sunglasses:. everyone of 'em had lock jaw:angry:. Wouldn’t touch a shrimp not free lined or under a cork. But, hey that’s why they call it fishing.

Just what is a triple tail? New to the area. Thanks.
