I see why they are trying to ban the round. It will penetrate a half inch of steel without a problem, something a hunting bullet won’t do.

Tiger, a Remington Core-Lok in .270 and 30-06 will poke through 1/2" steel @ 100 yards. It won’t do an inch. It would me interesting to see just what a 7mm would penetrate. A true AP in 30-06 will poke through a 1 inch plate.

Not trying to come off as a smart ass, there are some bad ass hunting rifles and rounds out there. I hate any kind of ban on ammunition and guns. I really hate not being able to get .22lr cheap and easy!!

It’s just so silly for the democrats to go after the M855 when there are so many different rounds that can compromise body armor. A couple of rounds of 00 buck in the same spot will do it. Heck one slug to the chest and no body armor will absorb the shock of a full oz of lead impact. What I see is just some behind the door gun haters looking for any foot hold to get the ball rolling on gun and ammo bans of all types.

Getting off topic, but I see President Obama at his speech here in SC said it’s easier to buy a gun than fresh vegetables in some places in SC.

Well, maybe it’s easier to buy a gun ILLEGALLY than fresh vegetables in some places.

So, according to him, that’s why we need more restrictions on legally purchased firearms.

Actually, it makes complete sense for Dems. Anything and everything having to do with the “evil black gun” known as the AR (which doesn’t stand for assault rifle) has got to be just as “evil” and therefore must go away or be banned.

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

I did some checking on this last night and this AM. It seems the libs claim this round could be fired in a special built handgun and could potentially penetrate a Cop’s body armor. The FBI weighed in saying it had NEVER happened. If this round is to be banned for it’s capability of armor penetration, what about a 30-06 or 7mm or any number of other rounds that have the power to penetrate body armor.

Look out people! The skinny lawyer tried gun control through fast & furious and failed. Here he comes again!!!

Yet pretty much the rest of the world, and our Army classify green tips as “light armor piercing.”

I said in the thread in the politics section - Armor Piercing rounds for handguns were made illegal in 1986, under Ronald Reagan’s watch. He wasn’t coming to steal our guns… or was he?

Issue is - someone came up with an AR pistol that will fire these rounds. And since the world and our army call them armor piercing… what do you expect?

So that begs the real question, should our federal government - either run by the conservative poster boy or the skinny socialist - be able to tell us what kind of bullets we can fire?

Its pretty simple 90%+ of Democrats in office vote to put new gun control laws in place and for gun/ammo bans and 90%+ of Republicans in office vote to protect the second amendment and expand gun rights. There are always a few exceptions in either party but the choice is as clear as night and day.

Looks like the NRA and Republicans have defeated this-

Okay, now I can break the seal on a fresh can of 900 rounds. If I ended up shooting this can, I was planning to saving the brass for a reloading project. It works either way.During my life as an adult, buying ammo has never been the wrong thing to do.

Thank goodness it was just a typo. Riiiiight.

The fact that it was defeated this time changes nothing for me. I will continue to buy and horde 5.56 and 7.62. It will only get more expensive anyway.

Narcosis

Amazing that the BATFE (with I wonder who compelling them?) tried to propose a policy which was opposed by a majority of the Senate, a majority of the House, tens of thousands of Americans and even the Fraternal Order of Police!

Nice work NRA and Republicans. Stay Vigilant, they will keep trying this sort of crap.

I bet if you trace it back to whoever started this crap and all the others that have come and gone, they have stock in ammo manufacturers and gun manufacturers somewhere. Someone is pulling the strings and making a killing in the process.

Indeed, Obama and his ilk are the best gun and ammo salesmen in US history.
