Gett'in oysters

I’m sure like me, most people raised in the lowcountry get their own oysters.I’m familiar with the state shell bed signs, commerical leased bed signs and the yellow I beleive DHEC signs warning not to gather. Do all ya’ll that gather them only use the beds marked by the state or can you gather them else where, and I would never encroach on someone’s livelyhood on a commerical bed. I have been gettin em for years in one partical spot and now a friend tells me we can’t get them anywhere except the marked beds. Is this indeed a fact? Thanks

As long as it is a state/recreational site, you are good to go. I would recommend looking at the State Shellfish Grounds map to make sure an area is open.
