Ok, so the fishing bug got me when I moved back down here, and I’ve been out a several times or so since. Ft Moultrie, Shem Creek, the “lake” where I live ( Whitney Lake )
Caught new species that I’ve never seen, reds, flounder, sheep head, trout, not getting skunked, but not getting anything worth talking about either.
I don’t have a boat, and I have the day off tomorrow - any suggestions on where to go for anything over 5lbs?
Was thinking of trying Breach Inlet with cut bait, or maybe as someone suggested - behind the police station in Goose Creek for some catfish.
Help!
Oh - and if it helps, I have a pass to get into Seabrook as a friend lives in there , so that is an option as well.
Can’t speak for Seabrook, I spend more time there doing cabinet work than fishing. But Breach can be a decent place as long as you don’t assume you need to fish deep. Use finger mullet and long strips of cut mullet (or, live shrimp) around the rocks or out on the sand flats on a rising or falling tide and you stand a decent chance of some nice redfish.

i didnt think u could fish that place in goose creek
From what I was told by someone on here, it’s now open as a park and you can only catch an release. I haven’t been there myself. No idea how the cats are here in sc.
some big bull reds have been taken in the surf off sullivans island lately, that might be worth a shot:smiley:
Got skunked at Ft Moultrie, headed to Breach Inlet around 5:30pm and almost got spooled using finger mullet - not sure what it was, using a Shimano 4000 with 20lb braided and a 40lb leader, fought it for around 20 minutes, got most of my line back , and then it ran towards the bridge and got me hung up on something near the bottom. It didn’t feel like the stingray that I had on in Shem Creek, it was surging quite good. Hit my bait like a freight train.
Now that’s what I’m talking about!
That’s why I like saltwater. You don’t know what you’ll get! Hopefully next time you’ll be able to at least see it! Going back again sometime soon I’m guessing? I’ve been wanting to try over by ft moultrie.
If you fish from shore/shallows around Breach Inlet, always wear a PFD.
