Grew up in VA Beach and fished off the pier there when young. Recently moved to SC and close enough to a Beach now to get back into SaltWater Fishing after living land locked for 30+ years. Question is what would you folks recommend for me to start learning and fishing again. Rent some poles on Folly Beach Pier? Buy a few poles and hit an inlet? Beach/Surf fishing? Just want educate myself and start off on the correct foot again.
Thanks everyone in advance … Also sorry if this is posted in wrong Forum Group.
I dont know much about pier fishing or surf fishing so i cant help too much. but you may want to try and post this in the Surf/Pier fishing section as well, those guys are usually very helpful (like most everyone here).

It’s a good place to start, for pier fishing just get your fishing rods/reel combos at Wally World. They have plenty of fishing tackle and cheap enough.
Off shore fishing start slow Charleston near shore reef, Charleston 60, the rod/reels you get are good enough for their 20-25 pound tackle.
30 miles plus I like Penn Senator Special 6/0 I’ve had them for years, they are great for trolling and bottom fishing. I buy them on line, I rebuild them / repair them when required ,$ 30 parts and you have a new reel
People will help you here if you ask, welcome to South Carolina
PS look at Fishing Match up for people with boats wanting someone to go fishing, you will have to split the cost of the trip but usually well worth it.
I post their often Jack
