Anyone gig from a kayak in the Charleston Area? I am new to the area and have all my stuff to go gigging and was looking for some partners in crime to go out with me. I possibly could take one of my lights off and let someone use it. They would need a battery, Gig and kayak…
I can gig from my kayak or by wadding so no worries on your preference of style
I would love to get up with ya sometime to stick a few fatties. I don’t have the fancy light setup yet but I can make do with what I have. Got a gig and a yak too. Just might be a couple weeks before I can head out though.

I always thought about wading until that one night about five years ago when we quietly drifted over an eight foot gator resting in about a foot of so of water… He never moved an inch, but he knew we were there… Creepy
I use my deepcycle battery that you would use with a trolling motor. I want to get a smaller and lighter battery though. But I havent been able to find one around charleston. I need a 12v with around 50 amp hrs and that would power me all night. With the 4 lights I only pull 7.4 amps a hr, so I dont need much.
Bigcountry and IVY what all do y’all have and or what would y’all need? Also PM me if you would have areas you would know… Im new to the area so trying to find decent places accessable by kayak is my hardest challenge.
Also my lights could easily be c-clamped to a johnboat or something for scouting or something IDK…
23Sailfish, not to talk a little trash. But you put that exact same line on another thread of mine about gigging. Do you say it everytime you see people discussing gigging. Why not let them enjoy their sport that has calculated risks like any other sport. You ever caught a shark, you daredevil you?
Alligators 101 cant live in just salt water. They can in fresh or brackish. They can venture into fully salt water but must retreat back at some point. Thus stereotypically they want be found in fully salt water. For the most part… So thats a relief. But yes it would def make the night more interesting for sure. So thanks for the input for the guys who havent seen it
And I have seen the picture of the alligator up on the beach

I could probably get together what I need. I would try the upper wando around the 41 bridge.
Take it for what its worth, the gator was at drum island. I grew up in Charleston waters, I know its not the norm, but just want people to be aware of the potential dangers.
Thanks man i appreciate that. Its not perfect. Still trying to Figure it all out! I’m already thinking about what I can do next. PVC is so cheap you can play around. It’s a lot of fun though.
