Gigging rig completed...

Rigged up some led lights for my Stinger 133 so I could try my hand at gigging. Didn’t want a generator in the boat so I ended up with (8) 10W led floodlights and (2) submersible led lights. Floodlights are mounted to bent alum. tubing, 4 per side. Submersible lights are home-made using 5m adhesive backed led light strips, pvc, and polycarbonate tubing. The whole set up is only 128W and can run approximately 6 hours on one 12V deep cycle battery.

Now I’ve just gotta git out there and stick some fish…

I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing…

Looks like a nice rig to me. I have never done it tho- so can’t advise on how well it will work. You sure put some thought into it!

Looks good, are you gigging by your self. I have gigged all my life it is easy with two people, one in the front and one in the back. If you go that way you may want to move some lights to the back. Fish always get by some swim up as you are moving along. Having a second person always helps you control the boat side to side and front to back and get more fish. I would say move all the lights to one side and the bow. Good luck

Nice.
You may need to shade the top of the tubes to keep from blinding you.
good luck.

Check this out. Would have been a lot less money/time/power

JJfishing, funny you should mention that… Already made and installed the shields. Only took about 15 seconds of looking down near those lights to realize they were too bright not to have the shields.
ssharda, Those look like decent lights for wading, but I would need several for use on a boat. Considering I only have about $200 tied up in my entire set-up, those lights would be much more expensive. It would definitely have saved me some time to just order the lights, but where’s the fun in that?
Gonna give it another shot Saturday night. Hopefully will end up with more that blue crabs to show for it…

I’ve only been gigging a couple of times over the last 10-12 years and had a blast each time. Unfortunately when you live in Indiana and are only in the lowcountry a couple of weeks a year things don’t always work out for the night time stuff.

I DO like your rig though!! I’m working out of an old 14’ jonboat so something like this just might fit the bill. Can you PM me some of the specifics? Light type/model # maybe for starters and anything that you might want to divulge.

That will give thems fish a sun tan

Woodfloats?

Looks like a lota light!

Good luck with them flatties…might have to go stab some myself tonight!
